As the nights get longer and the weather cools, it’s starting to feel a lot like autumn in Barcelona. If you’ve been living in Catalonia for awhile, you may be familiar with La Castanyada, the traditional fall festival celebrated on November 1st, All Saint’s Day.

On this public holiday, people gather with their families and friends to celebrate. Traditionally, they eat roasted chestnuts (castanyes in Catalan) and one of our favourite sweet treats, panellets, which are small cookies of different varieties made with a marzipan base.

Although Halloween has not historically been a big part of the Spanish holiday calendar, it’s growing in popularity, with more events popping up every year. Below is a round up of some fun kids’ activities we’ve found around town to celebrate this festive season.
