Created in 2013 by Martha Zimmermann, Creative Director and Contemporary Art Specialist & Educator, PLOM Gallery is the world’s first contemporary art gallery for children.

Now located in Gràcia, the space is dedicated to showcasing and selling art from around the world. They also organise after-school activities, workshops, exhibitions and cultural events to spark children’s artistic sensibility.

One of the fundamental beliefs at PLOM Gallery is that “Artists have superpowers and create works of art capable of transforming the world.”

With that in mind, in September 2019, Martha and her team set out to launch Los Superpoderes del Arte (@lossuperpoderesdelarte), a brand new concept dedicated exclusively to teaching contemporary art and graphic design to children.

They started with in-person classes until COVID-related restrictions got in the way; quick to seize the opportunity, Los Superpoderes del Arte decided to take their teaching online and kicked off their first virtual after-school arts classes in March 2020.

They piloted their new project with a small group of students, but it was so successful that they decided to open it up to all kids. Today they have 90 families across Europe and the US taking their online classes.

Los Superpoderes del Arte also offer arts and crafts birthday parties (at home), online camps during school breaks and in-person workshops and exhibitions in collaboration with cultural spaces, museums and music festivals throughout the year. Make sure to stay tuned on @toddl.co for their upcoming events!

“We like art, we like children, but what we like the most is when art and children come together.” – Martha Zimmerman
